The Mekong Delta is a complex maze of waterways, and the rice bowl of Vietnam. This eight day tour will give you a taste of life on the Mekong River and its tributaries. From Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), we travel by road to Vinh Long Province, where we board our boat and cruise into the heart of the Delta, viewing life as the local population does. Cruising along the bustling waterways, shopping at floating markets, visiting local villages along the way, and even a night at a homestay gives a fascinating insight to the local way of life.

DAY 1: HO CHI MINH CITY (SAIGON) ARRIVAL

  • PM: Arrival in Saigon & Airport pick up in Saigon then transfer to hotel for c/in. The rest of the day is at leisure. At Night: Overnight in Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City (Basing in Double/Twin City View Room)

DAY 2: HO CHI MINH CITY FULLDAY CITY TOUR(B, L)

  • Visit to Reunification Hall, Notre Dame Cathedral, General Post Office, former US Embassy, City Hall, and War Crime Museum. Giac Lam pagoda, China town, Thien Hau temple, Ben Thanh Market. At Night: Overnight in Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City (Basing in Double/Twin City View Room)

DAY 3: CU CHI TUNNEL AND CAO DAI TEMPLE(B, L)

  • AM: Depart at 8h00 from your hotel. The morning excursion to Tay Ninh will take you to the Great Cao Dai temple (a mixture of Buddhism, Confucius, Taoism, Hinduism and Christian). We see the noon mass at the temple (01hr). Lunch in Tay Ninh province (free time, exclusive)
  • PM: Afternoon, visit the Cu Chi- a fabulous tunnel. You will have a chance to get the unique experience of guerillas living and fighting underground during the war (a crawls through 50-100m out 200km of the tunnel system is unforgettable). Local rice paper workshops, nice paddy field are pleasant sights on the way. At Night: Overnight in Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City (Basing in Double/Twin City View Room)

DAY 4: HO CHI MINH CITY - CHAU DOC (MEKONG DELTA TOUR) (B, L, D)

  • AM: Drive to Cai Be, boat trip visit floating market and cruise over mighty Mekong River to island, promenade around fruit orchards, lunch break, board a boat to Vinh Long.
  • PM: Coach trip to Sa Dec where it is made famous by the film LAmant, the Marguerite Duras story and explore the village before heading onto Chau Doc via Long Xuyen for the first night. At Night: Overnight in Hotel in Chau Doc (Basing in Double/Twin River View Room)

DAY 5: CHAU DOC - CAN THO (MEKONG DELTA TOUR) (B, L)

  • AM: Up early for a cruise through the amazing riverside market with all its bustling activity and smorgasbord of sounds, colors and smells. We also cruise through the floating village with tons and tons of fish farmed underneath hundreds of shelters / PM: Discover the ethnic Cham village with its famous Mubarak Mosque and watch the locals go about their traditional weaving. After visiting the famous Lady Chua Xu Temple (1820) we walk to the sacred Sam Mountain with its panoramic view over the vast plains into Cambodia. After lunch we continue on to Can Tho, with a stop at a bird sanctuary, for our second night. At Night: Overnight in Hotel in Can Tho (Basing in Double/Twin River View Room)

DAY 6: CAN THO - HO CHI MINH CITY (B, L)

  • AM: A morning boat trip to Cai Rang & Phong Dien floating markets before heading up a quiet canal for a walk along a country road to enjoy the beautiful Delta scenery and meet the locals
  • PM: We take a ride on a Xe Loi along the country roads. In the afternoon we head back to Saigon, with a stop at a My Tho bonsai garden, and arrive in Sai Gon. At Night: Overnight in Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City (Basing in Double/Twin City View Room)

DAY 7: HO CHI MINH CITY - FREE & EASY DAY (B)

  • Breakfast is served at hotel, full day at leisure for shoping and relax. At night: overnight in Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City (Basing in Double/Twin City View Room)

DAY 8: DEPARTURE HO CHI MINH CITY(B)

  • We'll take you from hotel out to the airport to see you off on your journey home or more visit other country. End of tour itinerary!
